Aquamarine Power
Background
Aquamarine is a pioneering renewable energy company specialising in marine power conversion.
With today's spiralling energy prices and pressure to tackle climate change, the global demand for clean sources of energy is increasing rapidly, and harnessing natural resources seems the obvious answer. The energy stored in our oceans is large enough to power the world many times over, and Aquamarine's Oyster™ and Neptune technologies enable the conversion of both wave and tidal power respectively.
Line was asked to design and develop a new corporate identity and a content managed website to showcase their impressive technology, with the aim of assisting in increasing awareness and help gain funding for their projects.
What we did
Line worked with Various Creative to develop a brand which reflects the simplicity and cleanliness of Aquamarine's offer, using a marine and electricity inspired waveform as the core identity.
The simpleness of the design was applied to the website through the use of clear navigation, and clean, open layouts enabling the user to easily digest the information about the company and its products.
The usability of the website is echoed in its administration system - Line's flexible content management framework allows the Aquamarine team full control over the text and images used on the site, including the ability to crop and resize the computer generated images we commissioned of their products.
Results
Since the launch of the website, Aquamarine has joined forces with Scottish and Southern Energy subsidiary, Renewable Technology Ventures Ltd (RTVL), to form one of the leading companies in the marine energy field.
Scottish and Southern have invested an initial £6.3m in the new company, in additional to a £1.5m investment from Sigma Capital. Prior to the amalgamation of the two firms, Aquamarine secured vital support from the Scottish and UK government to enable them to deploy a working prototype of Oyster, their hydro-electric wave energy converter at EMEC in Orkney.
